Joining Freemasonry

Our fraternity has a wonderful history, which dates back more than three centuries. It is one of the world's oldest secular fraternities, a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values. Founded on the three great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth, it aims to bring together men of goodwill, regardless of background and differences.

One of the many misconceptions about Freemasonry is that you can only join by invitation. This is not the case. Any man who has a genuine interest can ask to join our order. Whilst it is true that most men who join Freemasonry do so because they already have a friend or relation who is a Freemason, we also have many members who have joined without knowing any other mason.

The only qualifications for membership are that you should be a man, over the age of 21 years, and able to profess a belief in a supreme being. Freemasonry is open to men of all faiths and within the Warwickshire Province are Roman Catholics, Methodists, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Anglicans and Protestants

Before being formally proposed for membership of a Lodge it is usual for a candidate to meet for a discussion with two or more experienced Freemasons so that he can fully understand the nature of the organisation he is joining and that the Lodge can be sure that his aspirations and expectations are in keeping with the principles of our order.
